How travel bloggers make money?

How travel bloggers make money ,There are a lot of great articles that explain how to earn money from travel blogging, and they’ll be more well-organized than mine. They’ll also will have less spelling mistakes. but since I get asked about this- I’m going to answer. Bear with me! and THANK YOU for reading (some of you for the whole two years, crazy!!) I’ll link to some other bloggers articles below.

*social media followers

Blogger: Jenna Barber of Two Monkeys and an Angel- [link] The first and possibly most important tip is to start your blog. People love seeing the “after” pictures of trips and places you’ve been, so pick a blog and start posting. Start a few posts that don’t involve travel, like fitness and travel tips. I have only read a few blogs that are successful without making ads, and if I had to pick out two, they are Jason from Taking it to the Streets and Diane from Travel Confessions. You don’t need to make money, but at least get your name out there so people can find you. If you are new to blogging and are just starting to find out that blogging is where to start, I highly recommend taking it slow. Learn the basics and post them when you have time.

*Unique, fun content uploaded at a regular schedule
*Bloggers get commission when their visitors buy stuff (I got commission on paid apps that I wrote about, and from banner ads) *Travel bloggers pay for the WordPress hosting (Blogger Pro) *Make travel posts (I make travel posts to inspire, to inspire others, to inspire myself, to teach others, to help others) *If you make a good amount of money you can start a clothing line *You can sell your recipes/cookbooks So there you have it! Pretty simple! My favorite tools are: *Layout * *Evernote (create notes, notebooks, and the like) *Awebook *Soundcloud *Zazzle/Bluehost/Amazon *Freelancer.com *There are tons of more ways- I’ll find them if you ask! *Sponsored posts/reviews

My top tip, is this – if you get a sponsored post (ie a product or hotel) – write your post in your blog format (and you’ll still need your pics!) but have your post written “for” them. Don’t write a “real” post. You will need to follow their instructions or they will give you their own or you may need to have a different plug-in. For example, I did a post for FlightNetwork.com and the post was three times the size of my normal “travel blog” posts because of their plug-in. Another way you can make money blogging: Guest posting. You’ll need to work for them (mostly) on your own time, with their given “rules”- if you write on their site they’ll give you credit on their site.

*Affiliates

It’s not just bloggers who make money, travel companies also make money. A good way to get people to buy your travel website or app is to write reviews about them. You can do it one at a time, but if you write enough, it can give you a lot of traffic. *Flogging Flogging is this way of getting free or discounted stuff for free. The method is to like and share some travel blog’s page. You can flog all kinds of stuff, but I think what I like best is the cups, plates and cooking things I’ve bought from them. Plus, they ship quickly! *Brick and Mortar Stores If you go to a destination and get a lot of interest, you can open up a store on a website/building and sell stuff that people might want to buy if they’re there. It’s a lot of work though. If you do it though- you will make money

*ads

How to make money travel blogging? Make your blog universal. You can monetize travel on any number of platforms, and if your niche is wedding photography, Facebook/Instagram is just as accessible as Google Adsense. Try your hardest not to split things too much between your brand and social media accounts, but it’s okay to promote it as much as possible and try to get people who you haven’t met or interacted with in the social media community to follow your blog, too. If you blog about traveling, be sure to check out this post with some general tips. TIP: When you’re planning your post, make sure to do a little research to see if the destination has any paid ads. I’ve written about some of my personal favorite travel sites, as well as other places to find blog marketing inspiration

*Freelance writing

I know I haven’t addressed freelance writing much, but as a travel blogger, you’ll need to write a lot, so it’s a pretty good way to make money on the side (or in my case, income). Although I never really tried freelance writing, I’m fairly certain I could write to pay the bills. Sure you have to have a personal brand, but you can work from anywhere, and your work won’t have to take as much work as professional writing. You can write different things for different platforms (for example I wrote on Car Washes in the US and Thailand and had a limited audience for both places- but could write for blogs in each country in a much broader audience). Write for blogs or people in your niche.
